Pi Founders Discuss Blockchain, KYC, Business Models, and AI Era Applications at Consensus 2026

May 20, 2026 at 11:39 PM

Pi Network founders Dr. Fan and Dr. Kokkalis made another appearance at the Consensus conference. I believe this is a positive signal for us Pioneers, indicating their continued presence and voice within the mainstream blockchain community. Dr. Fan primarily emphasized that many token designs are disconnected from actual products, becoming mere speculative tools. However, Pi's goal is for its token to genuinely help products attract users, boost engagement, and create long-term value. She also cited Pi Launchpad as an example, which I find quite significant as it directly relates to whether future Pi Coin use cases will truly materialize.

Regarding the AI era, Dr. Kokkalis focused on the crucial question of 'how to prove you are human.' Frankly, with AI bots becoming increasingly sophisticated, distinguishing between real people and fakes is getting harder and harder. He mentioned that Pi's KYC isn't just about confirming your identity; sometimes it's simply about verifying that you are human, or a unique individual, all while maintaining privacy. For us Pioneers who have already passed KYC, this means Pi is helping to build a more trustworthy network environment, preventing it from being disrupted by a flood of fake accounts.

A common thread in both founders' presentations was that while AI simplifies many things, the real challenge lies in connecting the digital world with 'real users,' 'trustworthy participation,' and 'meaningful applications.' I believe Pi's blockchain, KYC, payment system, and vast community are all tools they are using to address this challenge. This also makes me more optimistic that Pi will truly realize these visions in the future, making our Pi Coin not just a number, but a practical tool for everyday life.
